Before starting my own private practice, I had the opportunity to learn from experts in the field through field placements in private programs, public schools, and hospital settings. Most notably, I worked in public education at the elementary and high school level for six years where I deepened my understanding of special education and tailored interventions. I rounded out my experience in a school setting with my APA-accredited internship at Pleasantville High School where I sharpened my skills in assessment and provided counseling to classified students with a range of challenges including anxiety, mood disorders, and school avoidance. I developed an interest in treating OCD while conducting my externship at New York Presbyterian’s children, adolescent and adult inpatient units. During this time, I received exceptional training in CBT and ERP to treat anxiety and OCD. I advanced my training in the treatment of OCD as a postdoctoral fellow at North Jersey Psychology Associates where I received top notch evidence-based training from an OCD expert.
As a researcher, I investigated the experience of emerging adults with a sibling with a developmental disability. The results highlighted how the intense reciprocal influences siblings share result in unique lived experiences significantly impacting identity development, career, and romantic relationships for typically developing emerging adults. My dissertation expanded on these findings and garnered the lived experience of emerging adult women who grew up with a sibling with a disability and how this experience impacts their plans for their future and perspectives on marriage and motherhood.
